Reports are still coming in. There were activities in over 100 cities:
Here in NYC area, we know of events at Central Park, Coney Island, Tompkins Square Park and Staten Island.
In Central Park, over 200 gathered for "spell out". Here is a photo collage:
Over 150 people came out to Coney Island, and the photo was in the Daily News:
The Bush administration is carrying out war crimes and crimes against humanity: a war of aggression in Iraq, legalized torture, military tribunals which strip away basic legal rights and warrantless spying. It has packed the Supreme Court with reactionary zealots who have now approved government assaults on women’s reproductive rights and much more. As World Can’t Wait’s Call (http://worldcantwait.net/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=2538&Itemid=2) powerfully brings out: all this must be brought to a halt, repudiated and reversed and Bush himself driven from office. Now there is a growing sentiment among millions: I-M-P-E-A-C-H!
Yet Congress, now with a Democratic majority, refuses to act in any meaningful way to stop the Bush regime, declaring that impeachment is off the table, and recently approving $100 billion more for the Iraq war. It will be up to the people to mobilize resistance that demands Bush’s impeachment for war crimes and crimes against humanity.
On April 28, World Can’t Wait is joining with other pro-impeachment organizations in calling for people across the country to make the demand for impeachment visible everywhere.
