Powerful four days of action!
Donations Urgently needed for cost of mobilization

Over 20 thousand people marched on the Pentagon Saturday, March 17, demanding an end to the war on Iraq, no war on Iran, and that Bush be impeached. The crowd included many students and youth, veterans of the current Iraq war and other wars, and many others from around the country. The message that we must go "from protest to resistance" resonated from the stage and among the crowd, with many expressing disillusionment in the Democratic Party that has refused to stop the war, and an urgency to stop the bloodshed in Iraq and a new war on Iran. Sunday, over ten thousand marched in NYC , Monday there were actions on Wall Street and Tuesday, there were student walk-outs.
World Can't Wait was in the thick of all of these, with its message of "End the War NOW! Impeach Bush for War Crimes" and that Bush must be removed from office and his whole program must be repudiated. Otherwise, not only will the death and destruction in the Middle East continue for two more years, but everything Bush has done – torture, evisceration of habeas corpus, secret spying, a doctrine of pre-emptive war, moves toward theocracy – will be legitimated and continue.
Thousands of dollars are urgently needed, just in NYC area alone, to cover costs not yet paid, for powerfully bring the message to the Pentagon and to the World:

  • $4,000 is needed to pay back loans for reserving busses to bring people to Washington. While tens of thousands came, extreme bad weather eliminated the last minute surge in people getting bus tickets.

  • $1,000 is still need to pay back loans for the cost of printing 50,000 flyers (which both march information and the powerful World Can't Wait Call) in English and Spanish to outreach all over the city.

And donations are needed for our on-going work:

  • $250 is needed each month for a small organizing office
  • $100 is needed each month for a phone system for phone-banking out to thousands

Please make a generous donation and/or pledge a regular monthly donation.

Donate on-line with PayPal or credit card -- see sidebar.

Or send a check to: World Can’’t Wait, 305 Madison Avenue, Suite 1166, New York, NY 10165

First A28 benefit concert Friday, March 23- Galapagos Art Space - Williams

We're excited to announce that the first A28 benefit concert will take place this Friday, March 23 at
Galapagos Art Space,
70 North 6th Street
Williamsburg, Brooklyn.

We've got five terrific bands, a wonderful emcee, and a very special guest--the Reverend Lennox Yearwood. The Rev is currently leading a Make Hip Hop Not War bus tour across the country, spreading the gospel of peace and impeachment, and he's bringing the roof down wherever he goes. This is going to be a special evening, and a great opportunity for all of us to meet each other in a fun environment. Marches and rallies are great, but we also want impeaching Bush and Cheney to ROCK. All proceeds from the show will go towards A28 organizing efforts, and if we can sell the place out we'll bring in enough money to print and distribute tens of thousands of A28 flyers around the country. So please tell your friends and help us fill Galapagos with the spirit of exuberant and creative dissent. The show starts at 6:30 sharp and admission is $10. Please visit http://www.galapagosartspace.com/ for directions and more information. Here's the lineup: RUDE MECHANICAL ORCHESTRA -- A New York City-based radical marching band originally formed to protest the Republican National Convention in 2004. RMO turns political events into joyful, musical, danceable spectacles bursting with punk rock energy. REMINGTON -- A hot new sound bursting up from the underground rock scene. The band is a Manhattan-based power trio that pulls from a large and eclectic pool of musical influences. Remington integrates the sounds of rock, indie, electronics and jazz into a rich new brand of high energy rock. JONATHAN BATISTE -- Born in New Orleans and first introduced to music through his family's band, the Batiste Brothers Band. Jonathan has recorded with Harry Connick Jr., Alvin Batiste, the New Orleans Jazz Orchestra with Irvin Mayfield, Russell Batiste (drummer for the "Funky Meters"), Troy "Trombone Shorty" Andrews and others. GHOSTS OF PASHA -- Over the past three years they have graced the pages of SPIN, Rolling Stone, The New York Times, and countless publications in New York City, Vermont, Ireland and England. Their sound includes complex clarinet arrangements, avant garde noise abandon, 60's beatle-esque pop harmonies, cut-and-paste sample oriented music, and even tongue-in cheek nods to the works of classic beats such as Allen Ginsberg. THE JACK GRACE BAND -- "Martini Country" honky tonk with an urban, moody edge -- a blend of Johnny Cash, Tom Waits and chicken piccata. Led by Jack "Martini Cowboy" Grace, the music has been touted as "gritty, down home country the way it should be" and so authentically urban country "you can practically taste the whiskey dripping off the songs." REV. LENNOX YEARWOOD, JR. -- The Rev. is an American minister, community activist, and hip hop connoisseur. He served as a White House intern under President Bill Clinton and is currently President of the Hip-Hop Caucus, a national and international coalition of hip-hop, pop-culture, social and political organizations, community-based organizations, youth leadership organizations, and individuals who believe in the collective power of persons born after 1964. ADIRA AMRAM (EMCEE)-- Adira is a musician and comedian who began performing with her family when she could hold a rattle. Her acting has been featured in the Off-Off Broadway show "Door Wide Open" starring John Ventimiglia. Most recently she was seen on the Sopranos as Stacey and can be seen on VH1's Best Night Ever. Her musical comedy has been selected by Jane Magazine as one of the editor picks for May 2006. She is co-host of the forthcoming weekly comedy show Get Psyched. I look forward to seeing you on Friday! Best, Jacob P.S. Stay tuned for some major announcements about A28 in the coming days! -- Jacob Park, National Coordinator A28 Nationwide Impeachment Protests Tel: 718.404.9472 http://www.a28.org/

Community speak-outs against the war in Washington Heights and Queens, building for March on Pentagon

World Can’t Wait – Drive Out the Bush Regime – NYC Chapter is proud to announce:
Community speak-outs against the war in Washington Heights and Jackson Heights/Queens, in preparation for the forth-coming national March on the Pentagon, featuring Carlos & Melida Arredondo. Events will be in Spanish with English translation provided.

Carlos Arredondo made national news when his son Marine Lance Corporal Alexander Arrendondo, 20 years old, was killed on August 25, 2004. When the Marines' Casualty Assistance Team went to his home in Hollywood, Florida to notify him of his son's death, he responded by setting their van and himself on fire. Questionable protocols including the Marines not including a chaplain at the notification and giving him the news in his front yard led to this Father's extreme grief response. Melida Arredondo aided her husband and family with the two simultaneous tragedies. The day after Alex' death and the fire, she appeared on ABC's Good Morning America stating that "the war has to stop." Both Melida and Carlos have formed an organization called People United for Peace. Carlos came to the US as an immigrant from Costa Rica. and Melida is a first generation Costa Rican American. Carlos received U.S. citizenship after the death of his son. Both are strong anti-war activists, and favor citizen participation including the power of impeachment. They have traveled around the country speaking about this personal tragedy and to parents about the methods recruiters use to enlist youth, working especially to reach out to the Spanish-speaking community.
